The paper aimed to present a common characteristic of the conventional energy sector in Bulgaria and the share of TPPs for the environmental consequences and impact and assessment in terms of reliability of the purification facilities with specific software applications, mainly to the dust emissions and contamination. There is defined a new approach for investigation the reliability of purification facilities, in particular electrostatic filters, presented as monotonous systems, using the developed in the Safety and Environmental Engineering Laboratory software tool for quantitative probabilistic and reliability calculations - pis-MATLAB, based of the classic MATLAB.
