Abstract: We investigated how students perceive code pla-giarism. Data was gathered in a survey. The source code of the programs submitted by the same cohort of students who participated in the survey, was also analyzed. Based on our findings we propose applying a policy document to stop the students from copying code. The main objective of this study is to propose an example of a plagiarism policy document which could be applied to reduce the plagiarism of code in an academic setting.
