Abstract: When classroom activities do not explicitly encourage and support active learning, it is possible for engagement, student satisfaction, and learning outcomes to decline. We present an account of an intervention that radically re-engineered a set of classroom activities to encourage engagement through active learning without sacrificing either learning outcomes or student satisfaction.
