Simulation has become increasingly popular in nursing to help students develop critical thinking, confidence and competence in safe contexts with positive learning experiences from many researches done in UK, US and Australia. Given the lack of local studies, this study explores how nursing students perceive HFS in terms of critical thinking, clinical competency and overall experiences. In this study using a mixed method approach, both quantitative and qualitative findings confirmed that nursing students have positive perception of HFS. Moreover, participants shared that besides enhancing critical thinking and clinical competency; they had opportunities for practicing rare skills like resuscitation and questioned whether simulation should replace clinical practice. The implications of HFS and recommendations for future studies were discussed.
