Abstract: Have social media changed the habits of the listeners? This paper analyses an interactive programme broadcasted on the belgian public radio station. The listeners can use Twitter to have a say. The systems in place have made it easier to react to programmes, but only a certain section of the population can master the technology and these people are not far removed from the news professionals with interest and good knowledge. These active listeners are at the crossroads between the traditional media audience, on the one hand, and the active public, on the other.
