This paper is a summary of the findings of the CRe- AM (Creative Industries Adaptive Roadmap) project funded by the European Union under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). It explores the potential of a novel road-mapping approach to forecasting the impact and likely trajectory of creative technologies on specific sectors. This paper focuses on the use of a new generic roadmap process as applied to the video games sector. It identifies the technologies which are most likely to influence the future direction of the video games industry and the opportunities and challenges that might present.
