Abstract:
Carbon allotropes such as carbon nano tubes, carbon fibers and graphene endorse a number of significant qualities such as electrical conductivity, catalysis and gas adsorption (in case of carbon nano tubes). Incorporating catalytic application of carbon allotropes, the most challenging task is the preparation of carbon supported catalysis amid achieving uniform deposition of nanoparticles on the surface of carbon support. We report synthesis of nanoparticles deposited on carbon support, characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. Spectroscopic data reveal that metal nanoparticles deposited on carbon supported without changing their diameter or length. An eccentric change is noticed in carbon support material after the deposition of nanoparticles. Under optimized condition, asymmetric hydrogenation of methyl pyruvate to methyl lactate over Pt loaded carbon supported is investigated. Out of various supported materials (CNT, graphene, fiber) activated carbon gave 90{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} enantioselectivity.
