Abstract:
The most critical problem faced by a firm in the midst of rapid changes and increased complexity is loss of direction that also means loss of momentum to energize its people. Most of Strategic Management textbooks suggest, basically, the same generic model to cope with such critical problem through a, so called, the “strategy management process” that consists of three even four step process, namely, “Strategic Analysis, Strategy Formulation, Strategy Implementation, and Strategy Evaluation”. However, today’s practice shows that the speed to produce the strategic direction and to gain the momentum through this four steps has been easily surpassed by the increasing rate of changes and complexity in the business environment. In order to overcome the four-step process deficiency in speed to produce strategic direction and to gain the momentum, the Resultant Model of Strategic Management is proposed. Using the configuration of seven elements of, so called, the “urgency management process”
as a guide, the Strategic Leaders create “resultant” by transforming the urgency escalation into prospective initiative to renew its organization.
