Abstract:
In this paper it is attempted to consider failure effective factors in different types of earth dams, concrete dams, and their appurtenant structures, and also to consider effect of factors such as, height, dam type, aging and design that any of them solely or a combination of them may have participated in project failures, so that designers and owners can have suitable information to apply for achieving appropriate results. The purpose is to provide fundamental problems related to unsuccessful project leading to failures so that they can attract the attention of responsible officials. Also dam safety emergency management in Australia will be discussed and suggestions will be provided for dam safety issues.
