Abstract:
The subject of the architecture in Astana was born during the “Expedition to the heart of Asia 2012” in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The analysis from different points of view, including urban, architecture and energy planning aspects is presented in the paper. Thus, it is possible to receive the complex solution of contemporary tendencies in the development of such a special city as Astana. Urban environment must meet the needs of renewal and growth in line with expectations and the spirit of the times and the latest fashions. In creating the architectural image of the new capital, architect Kisho Kurokawa recommended the development of abstract symbolism principles. This method, in his opinion, would let the capital reflect and preserve cultural heritage of the nation, and also help create a harmonious urban landscape of a cosmopolitan city. Strictly outlined construction and development plan of the city is a wide field for the introduction of modern architecture reflecting the chosen philosophy of the country’s development together with its spirit, its culture, economic progress and social change.
Conclusions are an attempt to answer questions about the distinguishing features of urban planning and architecture and the forward-looking concepts of sustainability of the capital city of Kazakhstan - Astana.
