Abstract:

An intense increase in the numbers of wild boars in Poland, as we observed in recent years influence many factors as: the increase of base food - mainly corn, mild winter periods and mycotoxins, which stimulated reproduction in animals. One of the most detected mycotoxins in the diet of wild boars is zearalenone (ZEA). It has an estrogenic and anabolic impact and disrupts the reproductive system of animals. The basic feed for wild crops, consisting of corns. Remaining after harvesting grain or corn cobs plowed at a suitable humidity even at low temperatures contains significant amounts of zearalenone mycotoxins. Observations show that the feed given wild boars during feeding is often of poor quality (or mold), and problems in reproduction of sows and their behavior during reproductive lives are more visible (1,2). Among the plants which are eaten by wild boars the highest percentage is corn. It provides a good basis for fungal growth and production of mycotoxins, especially zearalenone.
