Abstract:

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are good biocompatible materials due to their particular physical and chemical properties In this study, we first synthesized AuNPs and then functionalized them with two thiol ligands, including thioglycolic acid (TGA) and L-cysteine (L-Cys), via Au−S bond. Synthesized thiol functionalized AuNPs have been characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). We systematically investigated the effects of the thiol ligands and stability of AuNPs. We found that AuNPs functionalized with TGA were the most stable in aqueous solution compared to L-Cys ligands. On the basis of the above results, we investigate a simple 1,1-diphenyl 2-picryl hydrazil (DPPH) free radical antioxidant activity of thiol functionalized AuNPs using spectrophotometer.
