Abstract:This paper explores the relationship between the ethical dimensions of decision-making and their possible effects upon crisis generation and management. Events during the last decade have illustrated the potential for harm that is inherent within a range of industrial activities. These events have also raised questions about the ethical nature of corporate decision-making. The paper begins by exploring the definitional problems that are inherent within both crisis management and corporate responsibility/business ethics. The paper explores these issues and outlines a number of phases that are present within the crisis management process. The paper concludes by suggesting a theoretical framework within which the relationships between crisis management and corporate responsibility can be explored.
