Abstract:
Disasters affect our lives in many ways. It can cause disruption in the daily lives of community including the rituals, festivals and activities. The 2015 earthquake in Nepal caused huge loss of lives and damages to the properties. This paper explores how community adapts their culture after a disaster and also the role a community plays for the cultural continuity in the reconstruction process. Kasthamandap, the oldest structure in the heart of Kathmandu has been taken as a case study site to identify the different organizations associated with it and to understand the way community adapted their activities after the earthquake.
