Abstract: French reading teaching is of great significance to French teaching. A well conducted French reading teaching is beneficial for students to broaden their horizons, cultivate French language sense, promote French language skills and improve their cross culture communication ability. In recent years, schema theory has developed into an important theory in the field of cognitive linguistics and psycholinguistics. It emphasizes on the interaction between reader and the text. Remarkable results have been achieved with the application of schema theory in the teaching activities. In this paper, the author combines the schema theory, considers the characteristics of French as a minority language, takes into account the current situation of French reading teaching to analyze and illustrate the application of schema theory in French reading teaching
