Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two relaxation methods of touch, gentle human touch and Yakson (GHT & Yakson) on Preterm's behavioral reaction. A quasi-experimental research design was selected for this study. A convenient sample of ninety preterm neonates divided into three equal groups thirty as GHT, thirty as Yakson and thirty as control, after 7 days of birth. The control group received routine nursing care, while the other two groups received either GHT or Yakson touch in addition to routine care. Results revealed that the intervention group (GHT & Yakson) demonstrated a significant increase in oxygen saturation than the control group. A statistically significantly difference regarding oxygen saturation, Anderson score , heart rate and respiratory rate compared to the control group while no statistically significant difference between the three groups in relation to gestational age, gender, weight, apgar score and mode of delivery. The intervention groups (GHT & Yakson) had improved the sleep state for preterm than the control group. Yakson group had statistically significant higher sleep state as well as behavioral reaction than GHT group. In conclusion: (GHT & Yakson) enhanced physiological parameters and improved behavioral state of preterm. Based on the findings of the current study, it is recommended to apply (GHT & Yakson) is an effective and safe in routine care for preterm neonates and replication of the study on a larger sample to validate the results and for better generalization of the findings is also recommended.
