Abstract: The growth of fake news in Indonesia caused by political polarisation has triggered the growth of media literacy movement to educate people. Two organisations named Masyarakat Anti Fitnah Indonesia (Mafindo) and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) have been doing a “Turn Back Hoax” movement using digital technology to debunk fake news and sectarian issue on religion which has become massive during the Jakarta governorate election in 2017. Working with Indonesian government and other communities has strengthened their movement even though the fake news itself could not be eradicated entirely. Neither Mafindo nor NU are able to forecast their accomplishment and further existence. Yet, both of them agree the effectiveness of the movement could be seen when the fake news is no longer present.
