Abstract: The Lower Proterozoic Champaner Group of metasedimentary rocks exposed in the eastern part of Gujarat, constitute a thick assemblage of argillaceous, arenaceous, calcareous and mangeniferous beds. The present area under investigation forms crescentic fold geometry in the south-western extremity of Champaner Group. The main rock types include meta-conglomerate, quartzite, phyllite and breccia. These lithounits are affected by a shear along WNW-ESE direction between Koba and Rustampura village at the proximal end of southern limb of megascopic westerly plunging anticlinal fold. This Koba-Rustampura Shearzone (KRSZ) is of dextral brittle strike slip fault as evidenced by the field and petrographic studies which supports the shearzone concept in this area.
