Abstract:

The Baul cult is an inseparable part of the Lokayata (folk) Culture of Bengal. They form a very colorful community and wander from place to place carrying with them, their mystic philosophy, hidden under the Cover of mellifluous songs. These spiritual bards of rural Bengal though lead a simple life of the mendicant singers, always show respect to values like humanity and love for humankind, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
