Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the occurrence of pathogenic bacteria in secondary effluent. The pathogenic bacteria was tested for antibiotic resistance from 550 isolates and high resistance was determine for E.coli, Salmonella and Shigella. The antibiotic used in this study including Erythromycin (E15), Amoxycillin (AML10), Ampicillin (AMP10), Cephalexin (CL30), Ciprofloxacin (CIP5), Penicilin (P10), Cloxacillin (OB5), Gentamicin (GEN10), Chloramphenicol (CHL10) and Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX2). In order to reduce human health risk, further treatment is needed. The efficiency of hybrid UV/TiO2 treatment process for the inactivation of the bacteria was evaluated. High concentration of ARB was detected from the secondary effluent samples. UV/TiO2treatment efficiency for ARB in secondary effluent demonstrated as a promising emerging technology for emerging issues like ARB.
