Abstract:

The paper deals with the biggest stadium in Austria. The Vienna stadium roof structure is analyzed in statics and dynamics. The roof has elliptical shape in the plan view. The stadium roof is supported on the outer ring only. The shape of the roof is optimally designed according to minimum potential energy. The static principle of the steel structure is explained. The structure was modeled and analyzed with help of finite element program ANSYS. Interesting outcomes of Eurocode analyses, nonlinear stability analyses and dynamic analyses are presented.
