Abstract:

Epoxy coated reinforcements have been used extensively in bridge decks and substructures to protect against corrosion. This paper experimentally investigates the bond properties of epoxy coated reinforcements embedded in concrete using direct pull-out tests. The specimens were prepared for various reinforcement diameters of 10, 19 and 29 mm, the ratios of cover thickness to re-bar diameters concrete of 1.5, 3, and 4.5 and concrete compressive strength of 30, 50, and 80 MPa. The influences of each test variable on bond properties are examined and the results may be useful data for design and analysis of concrete structures using epoxy coated reinforcements.
