Abstract:

Climate-oriented planning in cold zones is considerably significant for energy conservation and thermal comfort in dwellings. It will be advantageous to evaluate city blocks according to the climate before they are located in the site. For this purpose, a city block in Erzurum was located at four different angles and ENVI-met analysis was conducted. Since the region was a cold zone, the date specified for the study was January, 2017 and hourly measurements were taken. The structural unit was analyzed with ENVI-met and the highest temperatures were observed to be between 0.3 oC and 0.7 oC in the region. As a consequence of the analyses, it was determined that a city block located at an angle of 45o gave the best results for cold zones.
