The meaning of the Innovation process of Vietnamese Novels in the late twentieth century

Abstract: After 1986, Vietnam has entered the renewal period. Along with the innovation of the country, Vietnamese literature has also innovated, different from the nature of the literature in the previous period (1945-1975). In particular, novels are the main genres of literature that have had many facets and have contributed significantly to the innovation process of Vietnamese literature and social life in Vietnam. By examining novels published in the last 15 years of the twentieth century (1986-2000) and some novels published before 1986 and in the early 21st century, we explore the contributions of the the novel renewal of Vietnam in the late twentieth century. For the history of Vietnamese literature, this article will explore in depth the contributions to genre of poetics, literary criticism and other literary genres (short story, drama, poetry, ...). For the social life, we find out the effects of the novel in contributing to the spiritual life of the Vietnamese public and engaging in the democratization and modernization of Vietnamese society.
