Abstract:

“Heritage and history can be the basis for innovation and advancement.” and vice versa. This study titled “Animated Films as Tools to Foster Kapampangan Language and Culture” aims to seek that through technology and what it offers today such as Animated Films may be used to foster a particular Language and Culture. Also, using Quantitative and Qualitative Research Design, the study also seeks to evaluate the obtained six (6)selected short animated films from available resourcesregarding the Language, Culture and Setting or Scenery. The researchers used Convenience and PurposiveSampling to identify the six (6) participants or respondents of thestudy who are experts in the Kapampangan area or aspects. Theexpertise of respondents in film making, script writing,Kapampangan language and culture indeed helped theresearchers to gather first-hand data and information necessaryfor the completion of the study. The films were evaluated byexperts based mainly on their experiences and used Kapampanganlanguage, culture, setting/scenery and overall. Likewise, expertschecked the films whether or not they show or use KapampanganArts, Artists, Behavior/Personality, Beliefs, Crafts, Cuisine,Festivals, History, Hospitality, Jokes, Language, LanguageDialects, Religiosity, Sceneries, Songs, and Tradition. Using a Four(4)point Likert Scale, the overall weighted mean of 2.91 which is equivalent to “Agree” clearly proves the usefulnessof the selected animated films as tools to foster KapampanganLanguage and Culture. Experts gave recommendations which arevital for the future development of animated films intended topromote the said language and culture.
