Abstract: The objective of this work was to develop gas sensors using SnO2 based thin films doped by Iron (Fe) and Indium (In) with good sensitivity and better response –recovery time. The structural properties were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The In-doped sensors display maximum sensitivity for ethanol whereas Fe-doped sensors exhibit maximum sensitivity for CO gas at its working temperatures in the range of 50 – 300°C. Most importantly, these sensors exhibit faster response time and short recovery time of the order of 1 to 2 seconds and 15 to 25 seconds respectively.
