It is Homi Bhabha who first introduced hybridity into cultural field and put forward mimicry, third space and other concepts, and brought a new perspective for critics. Jade Snow Wong (1922-2006), a Chinese American writer and ceramist, published Fifth Chinese Daughter, which is an autobiographical novel. The novel reveals the growth of Jade Snow Wong, including how she knows China and integrates into American society. The paper interprets Fifth Chinese Daughter with Homi Bhabha’s theory and gives a systematic analysis of how Jade Snow Wong absorbs and discards between Chinese and American cultures and makes her achievements through which we can conclude that people holding hybridity thought are able to inherit their own cultures and embrace foreign culture with open mind.
