The Challenges Faced by Teachers in English Activities at Japanese Elementary Schools

Abstract: Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has mandated that all public elementary schools implement English activities for fifth and sixth graders since Apr. 2011. This new program is examined through a survey of elementary school teachers in Kobe City, Japan.
