Abstract: Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage. The analgesic activity of Rhizophora mucronata was evaluated in albino rats by using the tail flick analgesiometer. The basal reaction time to radiant heat source was taken by placing the tip of the tail on rediant heat source. Fractions (chloroform, water and methanol) at the dose of 176 mg/kg and aspirin (75 mg/kg) as control vehicle per oral were given and the reaction time was noted at 15, 30, 45 and 60 mins after administration of drug. An appreciable analgesic activity was found in chloroform fraction (F value 4.73).
