Abstract:
This paper critically analyzes emerging challenges for the international community and ways of bridging the gap between international law and policy in economic, environmental, social and human rights issues. Governance regimes have not yet fully dealt with problems, inequities, and lacunae. Questions addressed include: Can international law in its present form cure the evils of the New World Order? Can the law and international institutions deal with new and emerging challenges? If not, in which direction should changes be channeled? Is there an efficient link between the system of individual accountability and the maintenance of regional and international peace and security?
