Abstract:
This paper analyzes skills of ICT university graduates and skills required from ICT professionals when entering the ICT labor market in the Czech Republic. The analysis focuses on universities effectiveness in the ICT education area and compares their study programs (196 programs in year 2011) with requirements of businesses (1011 businesses in year 2010). It describes typical product of Czech education process in the area of ICT skills. General conclusions show that majority of graduate bachelors do not have enough neither practical nor theoretical knowledge profile to enter business as qualified employees in business informatics without additional training expenses. The same applies for at about 40{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} of graduates at master level. This forms potential threat to the ICT oriented study programs and requires further development of their curricula in direction of business needs. This conclusion is even more threatening in the situation when the Czech government decided to decrease the number of master level students in order to be able to increase the number of bachelor level ones.
