Abstract:
The study’s aim was to empirically find out (1) the relationship between strategic and entrepreneurial orientations and (2) the effect gender and specific areas of study has on students’ strategic and entrepreneurial orientations. A sample of 314 Engineering, IT and Business students were used in the study. The study found that there was a significant but negative relationship between the two orientations. It also found that neither orientation was influenced by area of study or gender. The importance of this study is that it shows the current dispositions of future managers. This enables the design of appropriate training interventions. Longitudinal studies are recommended to supplement a study of this nature.
