Abstract:

Up till now in the literature of queueing theory the entire study was focused on the one and only one queue, which is formed in front of a service counter. This paper presents a queueing system containing two different queues, a ‘primary queue’and a ‘secondary queue’. Secondary queues are formed only when the services are of the form which can be surrendered after some time. Hence only the systems with service surrender facility can have the secondary queues. This paper contains analysis of secondary queues where a model with finite range of service holding time and complete range of probability (i. e. from 0 to 1) of service surrender is considered. The expected waiting time of a customer in the entire queueing system and service wastage rate are derived in this paper.
