Abstract: Rohinton Mistry is an amazing narrator who sketches India in all his novels. As an immigrant writer, he has written about the India which he has seen during his childhood and observed since beginning. Although he left India long back but still he shows a good grip over the socio – political events taking place in India and also know changing trends and patterns of culture and politics. There are only a few Indian novelists who have effectively portrayed the relevant topics such as Indian political scenario, which includes the era of emergency period, the demolition of Babri mosque with its aftermath and the corrupt existing political system with a strong urge to revive the old cultural heritage of India .As a true Indian, he shows his sincere concern towards the upliftment of the society and leaves no stone unturned to bring all the reality in front of his readers. Belonging to a minority community and being a true Parsi he shows his responsibility towards the actual treatment of Parsi culture as well as other culture of his motherland, because of his deep rootedness in his culture he knows it very well that other cultures also need to be taken care of along with it he has also discussed the treatment given to the minorities and to the Schedule caste and Schedule tribes in India. He synthesizes East and West with utmost truth and balance. Thus he believes in the wide canvas of different Indian cultures and communities. The main theme of all his novels is the struggle for a common man for a happy and peaceful life. Rohinton Mistry is an expatriate Parsi writer. He has made a remarkable contribution to the Diaspora literature. In this paper an attempt has been made to discuss the crisis of Identity of Immigrants and other relevant topics projected by Rohinton Mistry.
