Abstract:

Oil-in-water nanoemulsions are a mixture of two immiscible liquids where oil is dispersed in the form of small droplets of size less than 500 nm in the water phase. High-energy acoustic fields have been used in this case to produce emulsions where the dispersed phase is in the nano size range. Sonicators were used to generate the high energy acoustic waves. Both probe-type ultrasonicators and tank-type sonicators were used. The concentration of the surfactant to be used for producing a stable nanoemulsion was optimized.
