Abstract:

In this work, hydrate-containing phase equilibria for mixtures of CO2+SO2+water were determined using the visual observation method with predetermined overall loading composition of all components at temperature ranges from 277 to 285 K and pressure ranges from 2.0 to 5.0 MPa. The measured equilibrium data clearly indicated the addition of SO2 to the system shifted the incipient hydrate-forming conditions to higher temperatures at the same pressures than those of CO2+water system. At the same ratio of SO2 to CO2 in the gas mixtures, the loading mole fraction of water was varied to examine the overall composition effect. Increasing water contents shifted the incipient hydrate-forming conditions to lower temperatures at given pressures.
