Abstract:
Landfill siting and site selection is a vital and essential step towards having a fully functional waste management strategy in high waste producing countries. Several landfill siting techniques are available and used around the world. The present study focuses on an optimized land-use site selection based on multi-criteria decision analysis and Geographic Information System (GIS), using overlay analysis to generate a map of the optimal areas in the State of Kuwait for waste disposal landfill siting for future planning purposes. The study analysis takes into consideration geological and geo-morphological, manmade, economic and environmental factors.
