Abstract:

Relative quantification method of gene expression of selected cytokines - IL-17, IL-18, IFN- and chemokine K60 was used in experimentally infected chickens with S. enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis SE147 preventively treated by Enterococcus faecium EF55. Birds were divided into 4 groups: group C – control group, group EF – application of E. faecium EF 55 for 7 days, group EFSE application of E. faecium EF 55 for 7 days and experimental infection with S. Enteritidis on day 4 of life, group SE – experimental infection with S. Enteritidis on day 4 of life. In general, IL-18 was found as cytokine with dominant expression in spleen and chemokine K60 showed the highest expression levels in caecum during experiment. Application of probiotic strain E. faecium EF 55 increased production of proinflammatory cytokines IL-17, IL-18 and IFN-in caecum of salmonella infected chickens.
