Abstract:
The paper deals with the energy performance of buildings with regard to the requirements of Directive 2010/31/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 May 2010 on the energy performance of buildings. One of the basic principles of energy efficient buildings is perfectly airtight envelope of buildings. Untightness leads to uncontrolled air exchange and increased heat loss. Energy efficient buildings situated in areas with lots of wind and in exposed locations could constitute up to 10 {6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} of total heat consumption. The objective of the paper is defining and characterizing parameters and variables influencing the airtightness of energy efficient buildings. Quality design of the building envelope contributes to the principles of sustainable building.
