Abstract:
The pace of architectural developments and its ever growing dependence on structural engineering have an effect on architectural conservation with regard to materials, technology, structure and function alike. This touches upon the phenomena and views that support active conservation practices and free creation which tend to see the monument with its cultural, historic and spatial context as an unnecessary burden of the past.
