Abstract: Crisis interrupts, often dramatically, the supposed continuity and the apparently ordered, linear progress of organisational life. This paper examines the lived experience of management with reference to sudden disruptions and crises within organisations. The aim is to investigate the symbolic actions which arise as a result, with specific reference to how these crises are conceptualised and understood by employees, both during the crisis period itself and post crisis.
Keywords: Exploring the symbolic, in myth and in the emotional aspects of organisational disruptions and crises
