Abstract: A marine yeast Meyerozyma guilliermondii MBTU-MYWI is a high producer of exo-mannan and cell wall mannan(.(exomannan-4g/l from 10.24g/l biomass and 4.25g/l cell wall mannan from 10.28g/l biomass)(phD thesis ,Savitha.K.Koilery).During the production of these polysaccharides there is a drastic reduction in pH level. In the present work we focused to find out the organic acid co-synthesis during these polysaccharide production. During the polysaccharide production , this yeast have capacity to co-synthesise 72{6e6090cdd558c53a8bc18225ef4499fead9160abd3419ad4f137e902b483c465} citric acid at 144 hours of incubation from 7g/l of biomass.Literature reveals that nitrogen and carbon sources have a crucial role in the production of citric acid.We analyzed nitrogen limited and nitrogen excess conditions both in sea water and distilled water based polysaccharide production medium .The result revealed that excess nitrogen inhibited the production of citric acid and seawater has a crucial role in the production of citric acid as well as in the growth of marine yeast. We also find out , among various nitrogen sources , Ammonium nitrate enhances the maximum citric acid production and among the carbon source sucrose promote the production of citric acid.Biomass study revealed that co-synthesis of citric acid by Meyerozyma guilliermondii is growth associated.
