Abstract: In this study, Technology Adoption (TA) is a set of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) processes related to the use of e-learning technology to support higher education learning. In considering a quality framework for technology-enhanced learning, this CMMI-inspired model focuses on the development of a tool which measures the capability level of TA practices in online learning or blended learning (OL/BL) implementation and explores a different mindset from the current process improvement efforts that guide e-learning implementations. Currently, there seems to be a lack of research focus towards TA best practices within the changing pedagogical landscape brought about by continuing introduction and innovation of technology in learning. The goal of this study is to focus on TA and develop a Technology Adoption Maturity Model based on an extensive review of CMMI-related literature and implementations and a combination of two different model development frameworks by de Bruin and Hevner. This paper further reveals that a technology maturity model can be used as another process improvement tool to improve the technology adoption aspect of an OL/BL implementation by considering all CMMI maturity level 2 process areas.
