Evaluation of In Vitro Release and In Vivo Transbuccal Permeation of Losartan Potassium from Mucoadhesive Films

Abstract:

Buccal films of losartan potassium were formulated from mucoadhesive polymers such as hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) and retardant polymers such as Eudragit RS 100 (Eu RS) and ethyl cellulose (EC). The formulated films were subjected to drug release studies in vitro and the data obtained were correlated to that obtained from buccal application in rabbits.
