Abstract:
For the last years the Polish economy has been assessed very positively in many aspects. Unfortunately, the innovation, one of the key factors influencing the level and competitiveness of the economy, in case of Poland is still at a relatively low level. It is especially noticeable in case of the small and medium businesses sector.The key role in the successful realization of the innovation processes is played by a company’s internal potential of innovation. Its role and meaning for successful realization of the innovation processes have been extensively elaborated in the literature on the subject and proved with numerous researches. The lack of sufficient innovation potential disables effective realization of the innovation activities. The author proposes the following research thesis:1. Polish companies of the small and medium businesses sector do not have a sufficient internal innovative potential.2. Insufficient internal innovative potential constitutes the main barrier to the realization of efficient innovation processes by Polish companies of the small and medium businesses sector.The goal of this article is to present empirical researches performed by the Author within the years 2009-2011 and on their basis to reveal the main barriers to the realization of innovation activity by Polish companies of the small and medium businesses sector.
