Abstract:
This paper focuses on examples throughout history to reveal how translation operates at the intersection of language and power. The manner and the uses of translations have had far-reaching consequences, shaping not only historical events but literary ones as well. Translation Studies is more than just a growing field: it sits squarely at the center of the cultural turn in the humanities, where related issues such as ethics or postcolonialism attract attention and inform the field.
Keywords: translation, power, ethics, postcolonialism
