Abstract:

This paper discusses the findings of a research study carried out at a university in Sri Lanka. The study attempted to
find out the connection between English for Academic Purposes (EAP) students’ writing strategy use and task types. It also investigated the strategy use during different stages of writing. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection and data analysis. The findings show that students use different strategies for different tasks and at different stages of writing.
