Abstract:

The aim of the study was to analyze the characteristics of remembrance and future thinking of
autobiographical memory of young. The design of the research was not experimental, descriptive and mixed methodology. The sample was no probabilistic. Participants were 100 young people with an average age of 19 years. We applied the Autobiographical Memory Test of Williams (2005) modified to include the dimension of future thinking in a single session.
Quantitative responses were worked using percentages and open questions supported by content analysis The results showed that the amount in the remembrance events was significantly higher in specific events in life periods. In the future the amount of thought imagined events was higher in periods of life in specific events. Events were recalled more positive emotional valence, however, focused on these specific events since in general events in the lifetime the remembrance was negative. In the future thought valence was positive. Sensory-perceptual components of emotional detail, spatial and temporal localization predominantly
positive valence presented both in memory and in the future thought. Frequency of sensory-perceptual characteristics was higher in remembrance than in the future thinking. We suggested continuing the investigation with other populations and in other countries to confirm or modify these results.
