Experimental Study and Pseudo-dynamic Solution for Seismic Active Earth Pressure on Model Retaining Wall supporting c-Φ Backfill

Abstract:

Experiments are conducted on retaining wall supporting c-Φ backfill. The variation of the c-Φ nature of the backfill is made varying the water content and density of backfill material. A pseudo-dynamic solution is also suggested for the determination of seismic active earth pressure on the back of a retaining wall supporting c-Φ backfill. Experimental findings are compared with suggested pseudo-dynamic solution and available pseudo-static solution. A detail variation of parameters, like, angle of internal friction, cohesion, angle of wall friction are taken into account.
