Abstract:

Origin of the feasibility study of reconstruction of two-lane roads to roads in 2+1 standard in the Czech Republic is based on demand of Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic after addressing the adverse operational, safety and traffic situation on selected first-class roads with the conversion of the two-lane roads into the roads in 2+1 standard. Further objectives are analyses of recent technical, operational and safety conditions and identification of road sections on the above mentioned roads unsuitable for reconstruction. The key part is the introduction of applicable proposal of guidelines used for the design of reconstruction of these roads to 2+1 standard in accordance with the technical possibilities and safety requirements. This part is followed by an approximate estimation of spatial needs and calculation of approximate costs of the project. The conclusion contains an assessment of the cost-benefit ratio of the road upgrade project.
